HB 6 was flawed policy from the start, which is why I voted no on it. Twice. It’s why those of us who are free market conservatives were against the bill, it’s why those of us who care about protecting consumers from predatory pricing were against the bill, and it’s why those of us concerned about the environment and want more renewable energy, not less, were against the bill. I fell into all three camps. It’s for these reasons that I introduced HB 746 to repeal HB 6. The scandal that ensued helped shine a spotlight on the problems in bailing out a business that may or may not have been in financial distress. The scandal highlighted the issues with bailing out an industry that had already received billions of dollars in subsidies. Ohioans deserve better than putting the cost of business losses on the backs of energy consumers.
